HOW TO SET UP YOUR OWN FRN CLIENT/GATEWAY
1. DOWNLOAD AND INSTALL THE CLIENT >>>
HERE.
2. RUN IT AND CLICK THE ID BUTTON.
3.FILL IN YOUR DETAILS AND CLICK GET PASSWORD.
4. YOUR PASSWORD WILL BE EMAILED AUTOMATICALLY, ENTER IT, CLICK APPLY,
THEN CLICK OK.
You can now use the client to talk to other users, just click on the
icon
select a server and room and click CONNECT TO THE
SELECTED NET at the bottom of the window
IF YOU WANT TO GO FURTHER
5. DOWNLOAD THE SERVER SOFTWARE >>>
HERE.
6. INSTALL IT.
7. FIND YOUR COMPUTERS I.P. ADDRESS (with something like
http://www.whatismyip.com/
).
8. FIND YOUR COMPUTERS LOCAL ADDRESS (LIKE 192.168.0.44).
9. RUN FRN SERVER AND ENTER YOUR DETAILS (IMAGE SAMPLE BELOW).
10. USE THE SAME EMAIL AND PASSWORD DETAILS, THAT YOU USED FOR THE CLIENT,
IN THE SERVER.
11. CONFIGURE YOUR ROUTERS PORT FORWARDING FOR YOUR COMPUTERS LOCAL
ADDRESS AND PORT 10024
12. CONNECT (START) THE SERVER AND WAIT UNTIL IT IS ON LINE.
The next number has been intentionally missed out (I am not superstitious,
I just don't like walking under black cats!).
14. START YOUR CLIENT
14. CONNECT TO YOUR SERVER AS FOLLOWS.....
server 127.0.0.1 port 10024
net ROOM.
15. ONCE CONNECTED, OPEN THE SYSTEM EXPLORER,
.
CHANGE THE BOTTOM NUMBER
SHOW NETS WITH AT LEAST 02 CLIENTS TO
01
16. YOUR SERVER WILL NOW BE IN THE LIST.
17. IF YOU WANT TO CONNECT ANOTHER DEVICE ON YOUR NETWORK TO
YOUR SERVER,
YOU MUST USE THE LOCAL ADDRESS, I.E. 192.168.0.44, NOT THE SERVER ADDRESS.
THE SERVER ADDRESS IS ONLY FOR CLIENTS OUTSIDE YOUR HOME NETWORK.
On-Line help is
HERE just translate it as you need to
SIMPLES..........
P.S. If you wish to hide your I.P. address from the outside world, sign up
to a free service like
http://www.noip.com/free
this will mask your I.P. address to the outside world, you still use your
LOCAL I.P. address on your network.
